Why should you get the MOT done?

Just like your relationship, is your car safe and trustworthy? Will your car make your travel comfortable?

All these questions are important but are often ignored by motorists because they don't pay much attention. To check the Roadworthiness of your vehicle, your car undergoes some tests, and one of them is the MOT test.

What is an MOT test?

If you don't know, it is a government-regulated test that is performed to check the safety of your vehicle. To ensure that your vehicle will stop or end you up in certain risky circumstances. MOT stands for Ministry of Transport and the main purpose of the test is to make sure each vehicle running in the UK is roadworthy and not a risk to others on the road. The MOT Birmingham test was started as an initiating step for environmental pollution control. The MOT test is more like an inspection that has been done on your car and the working condition of all the safety parts is checked.

Are MOT and vehicle servicing the same thing?

It's not the same as being serviced and the MOT test doesn't check the vehicle's general mechanical state. Furthermore, the evaluation is based on the vehicle's condition on the day - for example, when an MOT is passed, the pipes will not be conditioned 6 months later.

Parts like tyres, seat belts, brakes, suspension, doors, windows, windshield, and your car battery. Every vehicle older than three years must hold an annual valid MOT test certificate. If you have a car less than three years old, then you don't have to take an MOT test until the third anniversary of its first registration is reached. You have to ensure that it is renewed every 12 months after that date.

Comparing MOT tests to car servicing is not a new concept and it is a misconception that is believed by many. The real fact is that the MOT test and car servicing are not the same thing. The MOT test is just an inspection of the safety parts while car servicing is a detailed repair and replacement of damaged parts of your vehicle. For instance, tyre replacement is a part of servicing while checking the tyre's condition, the tread and air pressure is a part of the MOT test.

Getting your MOT Birmingham test is mandatory as it's a government formulated test to reduce environmental pollution by checking the CO2 emission from the vehicle. While considering a car service is not a government-regulated mandatory test, it is rather a car repair that must be done at regular intervals for the betterment of your vehicle.

Since the MOT is an annually performed test, it also expires. Without an existing MOT certificate, you can neither legally drive your car nor renew your road tax. However, a penalty of up to 1000 pounds may lead to a fine of 2500 points and 3 points on your permit if your car is not validly certified and is considered to be "dangerous."Whether it is an immediate risk to road safety or because of its emissions, it has a serious environmental effect if your car is regarded as dangerous due to the MOT test. It's an annually performed test and must be performed after every 12 months before the previous one expires. It is important to bear in mind that you don't drive your car when the MOT has expired. You can find your expiry date on your current MOT test certificate.

You may be subject to your car insurance claim, in particular in the event of injury, if you have to produce your MOT certificate following an accident and you are not current. Also, the recent MOT testing system computerization allows police and mobile camera devices to remotely check whether your vehicle has an actual MOT. If your MOT is invalid, they can use your number plate to check their database and stop you.
